Costa Rica Hosts Deputy FMs Meeting on Migration

centroamerica cancilleresSan Jose, Apr 12 (Prensa Latina) Deputy Foreign Ministers and Migration directors from various countries in Central America will analyze today in this capital the situation generated by the wave of immigrants from Cuba and other nationalities.
'We are talking about a monitoring that precedes meetings held in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico, where the situation that addressed the situation that took place late last year and early this year, with the arrival of migrants from Cuba to Costa Rica and Panama, pointed out the Foreign Minister, Manuel Gonzalez last week, when this nation called for the meeting.

For Gonzalez, the issue must be addressed in a structural way and should seek permanent solutions.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Alejandro Solano noted that the issue requires constant observation and provide measures for orderly migration of those in transit through the countries of the region.

The call states that the Costa Rican government called a top-level meeting to address structurally response to migration that continues to occur in the area.

They pointed out that the main purpose of the meeting is to analyze the migration of Cubans and citizens of other continents, which event, he assured, reflects a delicate phenomenon of migration that extends from the south and posed the need to find comprehensive solutions to the whole area.

Costa Rica expects the attendance of representatives from the US, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, among others, as well as the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
