Russia Is Unaware of UN Aid Mission in Aleppo

IgorKonashenkovMoscow, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Ministry of Defense said that it was not aware of a UN humanitarian aid mission in the eastern part of Aleppo, as announced by the organization''s humanitarian mission in Syria.

'For the moment, we do not know about the arrival of humanitarian aid in the eastern part of Aleppo,' said the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.

'When the terrorists were in eastern Aleppo, the UN mission sought to supply humanitarian aid to the suffering population of that city, but after Syrian troops liberated 40 percent (of the city) and 90 thousand people were freed, the requests disappeared,' he said.

Officers in the Russian Reconciliation Center deliver food, medicines and other necessities to the citizens of the Aleppo area on a daily basis.

But the UN humanitarian mission insists that Moscow and Damascus refuse to receive aid.

The Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that since last October 18th, all air operations by the Russian and Syrian air forces have been suspended, which is why Moscow feels that the accusations of responsibility for the increase in violence there, are unfounded.
