Hanoi, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) The World Bank forecast that the Vietnamese economy will grow 6.3 percent this year and a tenth more in the next one, rates slightly lower than those estimated by the government of the Indochina nation.
In its East Asia and Pacific Economic Update, the entity bases its calculation for 2017 on growing domestic demand, recovery in agricultural production and stimulation of manufacturing under the effect of high external demand.
As a negative factor, the WB cites lower oil production.
The report says that in the medium term the Vietnamese GDP will stabilize at around 6.4 percent in the period 2018-2019, accompanied by broad macroeconomic stability.
In the longer term, he said, the challenge for Vietnam is to sustain rapid growth and poverty reduction.
Macroeconomic stability would be maintained, the bank estimated, but delays in fiscal consolidation and high credit growth could exacerbate risks to long-term stability.
