Dili, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Marcelino Medina, held a meeting on Friday with the collaborators of the Cuban medical brigade (BMC) who assist in Timor Lester. Through his Twitter, Medina described as 'touching 'the exchange with the Cuban collaborators.
Members of the BMC are making history every day in this twin nation with their humanitarian work, said the Deputy Minister during the meeting.
Official data indicate that Cuba maintains in Timor Leste the largest brigade of collaborators in the health sphere of Asia and Oceania.
Medina concluded his working visit to Dili on Friday and will continue his tour to Australia and Spain. Before that, he had visited Russia and New Zealand.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2002, Cuba and Timor Leste have consolidated political talks and the development of cooperation ties, especially in education and health.
Up to December 2017, 934 Timorese doctors had graduated on Cuba as a result of the collaborative programs in this area implemented by both countries, according to data from Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
