Malabo, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Equatorial Guinea is celebrating on Friday 50 years of its independence, in the presence of personalities from several regions worldwide, as a culmination to a tribute that lasted several days. The two local television and radio channels broadcast hundreds of messages sent to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema from different countries, as well as the reception of the delegations.
Among the personalities attending the celebrations is Cuban Vice President, Roberto Morales Ojeda, who arrived in Malabo two days ago, after which he developed an intense agenda.
Morales, who was welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister, Francisco Pascual Obama, then met with State Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Salomon Nguema, and was received by the president of the country on Thursday.
During the meeting with Nguema, the Cuban vice president gave him a letter from Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, on the occasion of the anniversary of independence.
Nguema was interested in Diaz-Canel, former President Raul Castro and said Cuba will always have his country's support in its crusade against the blockade imposed by the United States for almost six decades.
Equatorial Guinea, with a total area of about 28,051 square kilometers, is divided into seven provinces and according to the last census carried out in 2014, its population exceeds 1,222,000 inhabitants.
