Movements will start after the official inauguration of the work, announced for Tuesday October 23 in one of its artificial islands.
During the past few weeks, tests were carried out to corroborate the strength and security of the infrastructure and logistics at the sites linked by the bridge.
A bus line was also inaugurated to take passengers from one side of the bridge to the other in just 40 minutes, as well as double-decker buses with license plates from the three cities.
The viaduct is 55 kilometers long, construction began in December 2009 on the Pearl River delta and connects Zhuhai - in Guangdong province - by road with Hong Kong and Macao, the two special administrative regions that were back in China in the late 20th century.
It is designed to withstand earthquakes of up to eight degrees of magnitude, hurricane winds of more than 202 kilometers per hour and the impact of ships weighing 300 thousand metric tons.
The engineering project is considered the most ambitious in China and, according to news reports, several foreign delegations showed interest in reproducing it in their countries.
It has a useful life of 120 years, includes a 29.6-kilometer section crossing the Perla River; a 22.9-kilometer bridge; a 6.7-kilometer tunnel 40 meters below the seabed; and some artificial islands.
Its structure - made up of 420,000 tons of steel - will not obstruct maritime navigation in the area, where more than 4,000 vessels transit daily.
