Moscow, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed this Friday support for the cooperation of the Brics Group in the fight against terrorism, against protectionism and the policy of sanctions, as well as for joint efforts to achieve energy security. The Head of State warned about the negative effects of wanting to use extremist groups to achieve geostrategic objectives, as this benefits only the terrorists who encourage them to commit new crimes, he said.
Besides, the Russian leader urged to rigorously judge the planners of an attack perpetrated last 24th by extremist formations with the use of toxic substances (chlorine) against the western zone of Aleppo city.
The Russian president expressed his trust that the Brics will join humanitarian aid programs to achieve the reconstruction of Syria and contribute to the return of refugees.
He also pronounced for regaining the validity of the Joint Action Plan on the Iranian nuclear program, while calling in the Korean peninsula dispute to end the demands to Pyongyang to make unilateral concessions.
Putin reiterated his country's concerns about the possible withdrawal of the United States from the medium- and short-range Nuclear Weapons Treaty and the questioning of the White House's ratification of the Strategic Arms Reduction and Elimination Treaty. This leads to an uncontrolled arms race, he said.
During the meeting, the Russian statesman revealed that the joint Brics GDP is 44 billion dollars and because of its consumption potential it has already surpassed the most industrialized seven countries.
The Russian Head of State pointed out that over the last decade his country has provided some 55,000 tons of humanitarian aid to more than 100 nations.
The condition of Russia as one of the main hydrocarbon producers in the world, allows it to influence the stability of the energy market, he added.
