México, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) Mexico''s president elect, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, asserted that with his government ended the neoliberal period and that he will govern for citizens who have greatly supported him. We are not only to govern for the financial markets, he asserted. The energy plan designed in the neoliberal period is not going to be introduced. That is very clear. There will not exist the economic zones designed to that end, he advanced.
He revealed that the negotiation with the United States to renew the North America Free Trade Agreement was on the verge of collapse by the intention of incorporating the opening of the Mexican energy sector to private capital -contained in the energy reform that boosted president Enrique Peña Nieto- to the text of the agreement.
He considered suspicious that the caravan of migrants had started just before the U.S. mid-term elections and assured his government will not accept formulas as the sure third country nor any other that attempts against the rights of migrants.
He sustained that an element to include in the issue of Central American citizens crossing Mexico in order to reach the United States is solving the causes of origin of the phenomenon.
We would like, for example, to strengthen democracy in Central American countries. They are very delicate issues because, we at the same time, want to keep the policy of self-determination and non-intervention, he said.
He also said that during his six-year period there will not be any separation between government and people or his party Movimiento de Regeneracion Nacional (Morena), will play an important role as movement.
He criticized the energy policy that made Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) have low production levels. Oil was no longer extracted and what is worse, that is why we speak of corruption, all Pemex investment, besides scarse, was north-oriented and to deep waters.
In the interview, AMLO defended his plan to create a National Guard and pondered the Army 'has not been subordinated to foreign forces. That is a mistake committed in recent times in the handling of the Secretary of the Marine that will be corrected'.
He pointed to want cooperation with the United States for development, not military cooperation.
He said both countries should work together with Central American nations to face the migration issue from its causes, violence and poverty, among them.
