Caracas, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza expressed Friday willingness to talk with his Brazilian counterpart, Ernesto Araujo, despite the position taken by President Jair Bolsonaro, who said to be determined to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro.
Notwithstanding the aims of bilateral exchange, I consider improbable its implementation, after Brazilian authorities join the US and its allies intentions to discredit the democratically elected government by Venezuelans, the FM posted on Twitter.
'Brazil is an important country because it is part of the BRICS economic group. We regret this government has this world view. It will be difficult to interact, both Bolsonaro and Ivan Duque are competing in attacks against Venezuela,' Arreaza said.
The Foreign Ministry's website reported that last Wednesday Araujo held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who participated in the swearing-in of the Brazilian President.
Pompeo, after the meeting and in statements to the press, threatened to 'act' against Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.
In this regard, the White House official recalled that Washington has a permanent forum with Brazil 'that will be used, to a large extent, to work together against the triad of 'evil', Argentine El Clarin newspaper reported on that occasion.
Last December, Maduro denounced that the US Security Advisor, John Bolton, assigned missions to Bolsonaro to initiate 'military provocations' in the southern border of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan president also said that this action is to be carried out by the Brazilian Vice President elect, Hamilton Mourao, who 'every day says he is going to invade Venezuela and encourages the use of his military forces against Venezuela.
