Caracas, Jan 27 (Prensa Latina) The head of state, Nicolás Maduro, assured today that Venezuela will defeat the coup pretensions promoted by the United States against the legitimate authorities of the South American nation.

'We will not rest until we defeat the coup d'état that intends to intervene in the political life of Venezuela, cast aside our sovereignty and establish a puppet government of the US empire', the president wrote on the social network Twitter.

'We are a rebellious people that defend the ideals of a country with deep historical roots and that will never betray the Fatherland. Nobody is going to subdue us, the time of the invasions and the coups d'état is over. We will never surrender! ', added the Venezuelan leader.

Maduro announced last Wednesday the cessation of relations with the US government after the administration of Donald Trump recognized interim president Juan Guaidó, head of the National Assembly (parliament in contempt).

He also ordered the return of all diplomatic and consular personnel, as well as the closure of all Venezuelan headquarters in the United States.

Also, the Venezuelan president denounced the day before the existence of a worldwide media campaign, aimed at imposing a coup d'état in the nation through the recognition of an illegitimate government.

The president rejected the position of various national and international media that seeks to fill the country with pressure and impose the intervention model dictated by the United States.
