Paris, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) Tens of thousands of people on Tuesday marched in France to demand greater social justice, in a mobilization called by unions also seeking a rapprochement with the yellow vests movement.
Crowds of people took the streets in Paris and several cities across France, in actions convened by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and supported by leftist parties such as the Communist Party and the France Insumisa movement.
CGT general secretary Philippe Martinez told the press about the necessity to 'learn to know each other', in reference to the convergence with the yellow vests, a popular movement that has taken 12 consecutive Saturdays of protests across France to demand greater social and fiscal justice.
Martinez also greeted the mobilization level achieved on Tuesday, in which even the Eiffel Tower had to close to the public due to the strike.
Workers from the public and private sectors, as well as students and retirees, participated in the demonstrations.
According to the call, 'the policies fostered at the service of the capital by successive governments have generated for many years strong social, territorial and fiscal injustices,' which were denounced by the demonstrators.
Minimum wage hike, in all salaries and pensions, as well as a reform of taxation and the development of public services, also stood out among the mobilization's demands.
The protest was also aimed at showing the rejection of the national debate promoted by French President Emmanuel Macron, to try to appease the crisis by the constant protests of the yellow vests.
