San Salvador, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) El Salvador government denied Wednesday the supposed retreat or setback in its fight against corruption, as recently pointed out by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The Vice President of the Republic, Oscar Ortiz, attributed to a problem of 'perspective' the warnings made by the Vice President of finance of the MCC, Cyinthia Huger, about negative consequences for their association.

'I do not see anywhere the aid and cooperation we have with the United States is at any level of risk', said Ortiz, who pointed out the prosecution of former presidents for embezzlement and money laundering.

He added that the separation of powers operates in El Salvador, and assured there is a strengthening of the Prosecutor Office and the Court of Accounts, and that the Legislative Assembly (Parliament) is increasingly independent.

El Salvador government signed with the MCC the second agreement of Millennium Funds in 2014, for the investment of 365.2 million dollars in projects for the socio-economic development of the country.
