Tehran, Mar 8 ( Prensa Latina ) Iran rejected a statement issued by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain accusing the Islamic Republic of meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, in a speech released in Tehran Friday, said the position does not reflect all Middle Eastern nations' views.

It is a manoeuvre to undermine confidence and open more gaps between states in the region, Qasemi said.

Tehran rejects the Quartet's positions and assures it will oppose the invasion in Yemen, the foreign military presence in the Gulf and will continue the fight against terrorism, he added.

On the other hand, the spokesman demanded progress towards sustainable security based on collective cooperation with all those in the area and the cessation of hostility, sanctions, economic blockades and attempts to eliminate a nation from regional equations.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, by adopting anti-Iranian positions, he added, are responsible for destructive policies that extend crises such as that of Yemen, the poorest Arab country, plunged into chaos and humanitarian catastrophe.
