La Paz, Mar 15 (Prensa Latina) A 6.8-magnitude earthquake in the Richter''s scale jolted on Friday the province of Bilbao, southern Bolivian department of Potosi, and was perceptible in several cities of the country, in addition to Chile and Peru.
According to the local San Calixto Observatory, the quake occurred at 01:03 local time this Friday, at a depth of 399.5 kilometers.
The tremor was felt with great intensity in the departments of La Paz, Cochabamba and Oruro, especially in tall buildings.
Due to the magnitude and depth, the seism was III on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale of 12 degrees, which is why it is classified as medium intensity, according to the San Calixto Observatory, located in La Paz.
The source states that no human or material damages were reported, while experts ruled out some aftershocks in the national territory.
