Santiago de Chile, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) President Sebastian Piñera dawned Monday with bad news: his government is rejected by 50 percent of his compatriots, the lowest level so far in his second term.

According to the Plaza Publica survey by Cadem, a consulting firm during the third week in March and published this Monday, the President is backed by 37 percent of Chileans, three percent less than the previous year.

This survey is considered a thermometer to assess the performance of the local political spectrum, although with positions close to the executive.

Such results seem to be supported even by events after the survey was conducted, such as Piñera's welcome to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, which was widely rejected; and the resounding hum he received when he attended a concert a few days ago by former Beatle Paul McCartney.

In the survey Piñera's cabinet is also badly placed, as 45 percent disapprove of its work while 33 percent approve four points below the previous survey.

Isabel Pla, Minister of Women's Affairs (70 percent), Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero (66 ) and Gloria Hut of Transport (60 ) are among the best approved figures.
