Russia Considers Politicized Proposal Related to Air Disaster

rusia onuvitalychurkinMoscow, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) Russia reiterated today the politicized nature of the draft resolution to establish an international tribunal on the disaster of the Malaysian plane that took place in the Ukrainian southeast, after vetoing the document in the UN Security Council.
Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said the authors of the document proposed to conduct a politicized, propaganda action, with a text devoid of legal foundation and poorly prepared, as quoted by local media

He also said that neither did the draft resolution have a historic background, and explained his country had warned colleagues to seek alternatives to investigate the disaster of the Malasyan Airlines Boeing-777, on July 17th, 2014, with 298 people on board.

The West blames the insurgents of the self-proclaimed republic of Donetsk of shooting down the aircraft, while Russia has evidence of other versions involving Ukraine and its combat aviation, or its anti-aircraft systems, in the incident.

A resolution to this effect was never approved in order to investigate a Russian Tu-154, returning from Israel to Siberia, being shot down in 2001 by the Ukrainian air force, reminded Churkin.

Nor was the attack on an Iran Air aircraft in 1988 by a US cruiser listed as a threat to international peace and security, in the text of the resolution 616 of the aforementioned Council, adopted at the time, stressed the diplomat.

In the national investigations of the latter two cases it was never established that a crime was commited, and there were no convictions, said the Russian official.

The initiative, vetoed by Russia yesterday, described the disaster as a threat to international security, and demanded all countries to contribute to the investigation with the necessary measures.

It also stated that not only would people directly involved be judged, but also those who could have given the order, without respect from that court to the immunity, both by national right, and international law, that they might have.

The local press referred yesterday to the presbox.co.uk digital site, which has a recording of telephone conversations between the member of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) David L. Stern, and his alleged chief of operations.

According to this, Stern, who worked in the conflict zone in southeast Ukraine under the guise of journalist for the GlobalPost diary, was directly linked to the disaster.
