Buenos Aires, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) With a general strike tomorrow and another demonstration on International Workers' Day, Argentineans are ready for a week of great social turmoil amid the crisis that is affecting the country.

Without public transportation, classes, hospitals with doctors on strike, banks closed and a stoppage in the judicial sector, the echoes of the protests scheduled for Tuesday are being heard, as they are expected to be tough, and were organized by two workers' organizations, CTA and CTA Autónoma, the state workers and several unions from different sectors.

Aerolineas Argentinas cancelled all its flights, while the subway will be totally paralyzed, there will be no classes in most public schools, and state banks will not open.

Amid the impact caused by another increase in the value of the US dollar last week, which closed at 47 pesos, further sinking the local currency, people are concerned and some speak about the upcoming elections, first the primary round and the general elections later, the economic agenda and the ups and downs of the financial market.

People also speak about the very high prices of some services, especially food, due to the constant increase in the exchange rate against the US dollar.

Although the Government launched a package of measures to try to reduce the inflation by reinforcing social programs, among other initiatives, the economic adjustment has been rejected by several trade unions and organizations that will take to the streets on Tuesday to express their discontent.

From Buenos Aires to Patagonia, the strike on April 30 will be the prelude to another demonstration on May 1, when the working class will demand an end to layoffs and suspensions, higher salaries and better working conditions in some sectors, among other demands.
