El Salvador's Parliament to swear in its new president

San Salvador, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) The Legislative Assembly (Parliament) of El Salvador will swear in Mario Ponce as its president for the term through 2021 on Tuesday, lawmaker of the National Coalition Party (PCN).

Ponce took office November 1, to comply with the Protocol of Understanding established on May 1, 2018, according to which Norman Quijano, of the ARENA party, presided over the first half of the legislature.

The current president of the legislature called for harmony with the Executive and the judiciary, to gather solutions to the country's problems, such as the approval of the National General Budget for Fiscal Year 2020.

Quijano's presidency was marked by his differences with the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, with a recurring exchange of accusations and questioning of their respective powers.
