Bolivians mobilize to demand self-proclaimed president's resignation

La Paz, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) At least two protest marches converged in the center of Cochabamba city on Monday, to demand the resignation of the self-proclaimed interim president of Bolivia, Jeanine Añez.

Encouraged by the slogan 'áAñez Out!,' protesters carried Bolivian and Wiphala flags with a black ribbon to represent their mourning following the death of nine indigenous protesters during the repression unleashed on Friday by military and police in the area of Huayllani (Sacaba).

Protesters also call for the return of former president Evo Morales, who resigned from his post to avoid further bloodshed in the country, although he noted later that this move had not contained the repression and prevented the death of Bolivians.

Meanwhile, several columns started arriving from the city of El Alto to this capital, marching toward Murillo square. Slogans such as 'áAñez, you killer!' and 'The people don't want you!' were heard, referring to the opposition senator who has been given 48 hours to leave the post.

In that context, UN Special Envoy Jean Arnault arrived in Bolivia to try to pacify the country, where social unrest has escalated since the November 10 coup d'état.
