Hollande will Travel to Egypt for Inauguration of New Suez Canal

egipto canalsuezParis, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The French President, Francois Hollande, will participate next August 6th in Egypt in the inauguration of the Suez Canal, said the Elysee Palace.
Hollande was invited by his counterpart, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to the ceremony, which consecrate the success of this major project that will double the transport capacity in the canal and stimulate the development of projects of the adjacent economic zones, the statement said.

The visit will be also an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest in the bilateral and regional field during a meeting between the two leaders.

The construction of the canal, which traces a parabola in two points of the original canal, officially inaugurated in 1869, was scheduled to be completed in three years, but the term was reduced to one at the express request of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
