La Paz, Aug 3 (Prensa Latina) The department of Potosi woke up today totally calm and with normal dynamics of the society after one month of obliged strike by the Potosi Civic Committee (Comcipo) .
The Comcipo executive committee decided yesterday to lift the general strike that remained paralyzed and almost to collapse the department of Potosi for 31 days.
We declare a recess to this mobilization, to organize an open meeting with the participation of the provinces of the department, Comcipo leader, Johnny Llally, said in a statement.
However, Llally said, the Comcipo executive committee will work to conform its statutes and reiterated that the coming step will be the denominated course of Potosi dignity in the commemoration activities of the country's independence, on August 6.
Comcipo began the strike on July 1 in Potosi, and five days later, a group of its members was moved to the capital, where some of the main streets were closed, and violent actions that left one wounded and several material damage were staged at the Vice-Ministry of Interior Regime and Police.
The demonstrations were given by a request of attention of the government to a 26-point list of demands, among them the construction of an international airport and a cement plant.
However, about 10 invitations of the government were ignored, exposing always an excuse with a little common sense, until Saturday, July 25, Comcipo agreed to sit at the negotiation table with the State's authorities.
