Ottawa, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) The organizers of the Latin American Film Festival of Vancouver confirmed Mexico will be the guest of honor at the event, scheduled from September 3 to 13, in Canada.
The feature film Güeros, directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios will open the film event that for the first time in 13 years, dedicates an exclusive space for the cinema of the nation.
According to the director of the event, Christian Sida Valenzuela, Mexico has a vibrant film production, similar to the golden decade of cinema in that country.
He also said that the quality and content of the movies of recent years make the seventh art in Mexico an intelligent, attractive and contemporary proposal.
Moreover, the filmmaker Juan Antonio de la Riva and actress Monica del Carmen, distinctive figures of filmmaking in Mexico, will participate as jury of the event.
For the closing of the Festival organizers save the film Dolares de Arena, coproduction of Mexico and Dominican Republic, directed by Israel Cardenas and Laura Amelia Guzman and starring the renowned actress Geraldine Chaplin.
