Social Groups Support the Government of Ecuador

bandera ecuadorQuito, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of 40 Social Organizations of Azuay, province of Ecuador, announced their support to the Government of the Citizen Revolution and to the President Rafael Correa.
In the letter published in digital media, the signatories supported the national dialogue process promoted by Correa, rejected the national strike called by the opposition next August 13 and announced a permanent vigil in order to defend democracy.

We assume the expression of the genuine voice of the organized people and master of its own fate, and we refute that representatives of parties in Ecuador intend to speak for the majority, stated the note released on the website The Citizen.

The signatories, among which stand sectors such as those of Afro-Ecuadorians, peasants and indigenous, validated the policies implemented by Correa to benefit the poorest.

They claimed that participate in the Dialogue for Equity and Justice promoted by the government and called on the opposition to stop hostility and join the national debate for a better country.

The National Secretary of Strategic Planning, Pabel Muñoz, recently explained that 8792 people, 995 organizations and 840 Autonomous Decentralized Government participated in the workshops organized by the entity responsible for developing the talks.

In an interview with the station Ecuador Speaks, Muñoz said that together with the citizenship, there is a desire to maintain the achievements of these eight years of Citizen Revolution on issues such as poverty reduction, the increase of production, public and private investment.

The massive call for national dialogue began in June after submitting projects to the laws of inheritance and capital gains, which allegedly triggered violent opposition marches.

Despite the temporary removal of these efforts to maintain peace in Ecuador and the official call to dialogue, the anti-government groups continue heating the streets and inciting public disobedience.
