Iranian Foreign Minister Visits Lebanon to Boost Bilateral Ties

mohammad javad zarifBeirut, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrives in Lebanon today for an official visit aiming at boosting bilateral relations and ratifying support to the resistance, sources reported today.
Zarif will also discuss details of the nuclear agreement signed last July 14th in Vienna between Tehran and six world powers, Iranian ambassador in Beirut Mohammad-Ali Fathali told local media.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also aims at strengthening cooperation ties in economic areas, a topic he would discuss with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil and other authorities.

Iran and Lebanon have signed several agreements that have been difficult to implement due to political reasons and the sanctions imposed to Iran by Western powers due to the countryâÖs nuclear program, an issue that should be resolved after the Vienna agreement.

According to Fathali, immediately after his arrival in Beirut on Tuesday afternoon, Zarif will meet Shiite resistance movement Hezbollah leadership, TehranâÖs main ally in this country.

Cooperation between Hezbollah and Iran in the fight on terrorism by the Islamic State in Irak, the participation of Lebanese fighters in the war in Syria in support of Bashar Al-Assad, and the conflict in Yemen, are some of the points in common.
