Mexico, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) Chilean President Michelle Bachelet today began an official 24-hour visit to Mexico as part of the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between both countries.
Bachelet arrived here last night from El Salvador, where she strengthened bilateral ties with the signing of new agreements.

She was received at the International Airport of Mexico City by Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Meade.

According to the program, after laying a wreath this morning at the Altar of the Homeland, located in the Bosque de Chapultepec, Bachelet will be received in a welcome ceremony for his Mexican counterpart, Enrique Peña Nieto, in Campo Marte.

The two leaders will hold a private conversation and then the enlarged meeting with delegations, where new bilateral legal instruments were to mark.

This will be the seventh time in coming together, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, and they will review the current state of bilateral relations and discussed mechanisms to strengthen it.

The visit will be conducive to double the bilateral legal framework, which currently has 13 instruments, with the signing of agreements on a wide range of issues, said the statement.

It mentioned including education, tourism, health, productive financing, science and technology, security, environment, consumer protection and culture, among the main topics.

Chilean President also will attend a solemn session of the Standing Committee of the Congress, will hold meetings with business and give a lecture on gender policies.

Bachelet will commemorate important events in the bilateral relationship and will participate in a conference on cooperation in the Mexican Foreign Ministry and will meet with the Chilean community based in Mexico.

Since the establishment of bilateral Free Trade in 1999, the exchange of goods between the two countries has tripled to reach the figure of three thousand 546 million dollars in 2014.

Chile and Mexico signed its first Strategic Partnership Agreement in Latin America in 2006 and a year later created a Joint Cooperation Fund has financed 84 projects in agriculture, competitiveness, environment, culture, education and social protection.

Chile is the third largest trading partner of Mexico in South America, after Brazil and Colombia, with an exchange of goods exceeded three thousand 500 million dollars in 2014.
