New Delhi, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) The Indian archaeological authorities are investigating today a megalithic three-thousand-year-old cemetery discovered on Nagarjuna Sagar dam bed in Andhra Pradesh state.
With about 200 burials, the site was found by the drop in water level due to the drought affecting large areas of the country, said The Hindi.
Experts consulted by the newspaper stressed that the area is about three millennia old.
The studies will provide an insight into the lifestyle of people who lived in that era, said P. Nagaraju, Assistant Director of the Department of Archaeology and Museums.
Nagaraju explained that the belongings discovered on the site will help experts to know about religion, food habits, occupation and other details related to the ancient inhabitants of the area.
