nicolas maduroCaracas, Sep 9 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, said today that only his country can put conditions on dialogue with Colombia to resolve the current conflict in the border.
We are the ones attacked, said Maduro, who referred to his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos.

We are ready to discuss on the border situation (partially closed in the Venezuelan state of Táchira to combat crime), but we must bear in mind that Venezuela, its people and its economy are under attack for crimes such as paramilitarism and extraction smuggling, he said.

Maduro reiterated Santos that a meeting between them was imperative and agreed with the South American mediation, specifically from Brazil and Argentina, but also welcomed the interest shown by Uruguay and Panama.

The head of state declared that oligarchy media from Bogota launched a campaign of hatred against Venezuela, based on lies and distortions.

According to the president, from Colombia the Venezuelan authorities are being attacked and accused of violating the guarantees of people. Therefore, he called for a world conference next week in Caracas on human rights and migration from the neighboring country.

Colombians come to Venezuela because of the deficient social policies of their country, the paramilitary violence and the internal armed conflict, he said.

I invite the delegations from South America, from Colombia and the world to check the situation in the border areas and to make sure that our work is for peace, he said.

Maduro reaffirmed its commitment to the eradication of paramilitarism and smuggling in the Colombian-Venezuelan border.
