Sri Lankan Economy Grows 6,7 Per Cent in Second Quarter

turistas srilankaColombo, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Sri Lanka''s economy grew 6,7 percent in the second quarter of this year compared with the same period in 2014, today reported the Bureau of Statistics.
During that time the industrial sector increased by two per cent, agriculture by five per cent and services by 7,9 per cent, according to the new method applied, which is based in 2010.

Colombo authorities consider that this year the economy will grow by seven per cent.

One of the main drivers of the Sri Lankan economy is tourism.

According to official data, over 1,000,170 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka in the first eight months of this year, 17,1 per cent more than in the same period in 2014.
