Cali Declared Ready for World Youth Athletics Championships

Bogota, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) Five days before the inauguration of the Ninth World Youth Championships in Athletics, the Colombian city of Cali was declared ready to receive more than 1,270 competitors from 154 countries.
Organizers reported that in addition to preparations for securing the track and field competitions, the city is ready at the same time in ensuring the sacurity of the participants until the coming 19th.

In that sense, it was stated that the National Police Directorate will sent to Cali in the coming hours about 2,500 soldiers, who will be responsible for ensuring peace in the sports venues, such as host stadium Pascual Guerrero and hotels where all visitors will be staying.

Moreover, it was learned that this weekend will culminate the details of the installation of a new synthetic track on the main stage of the competition.

It is expected also that the third most important city in this Andean nation will complete early next week the reception of 1,600 participants who will arrive from all over the world, including athletes, officials and companion of the new athletes.

About 750 volunteers will cooperate in the organization of the tournament, of whom half have bilingual preparation and will deal with the tasks of logistics and support, both in competitive scenarios, as in the Cali airport and accommodation areas.

Moreover, it was learned that the host delegation trains at the city that will host the World Championships, along with other teams from Europe, Asia and Africa, which are already in Cali.
